Ponzu Beef
Ingredients
- shabu beef / pork (1-2 packs)
- Komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach)
- Maitake Mushrooms
- Ponzu
- Butter
- Rice
Instructions
- Start the rice
- Cut the beef strips into 4 equal parts
- Cut up the komatsuna into 4 equal parts
- Break up the maitake mushrooms into bite size pieces
- Saute the komatsuna stems and mushrooms
- Add the leafy part last
- Pour that mix in a bowl to save
- Put butter and garlic in the pan
- Add the sliced beef
- After meat is pink, add ponzu sauce
- Plate rice, then veggies, then meat
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds
Change Up
- Try other greens. Some fiber-rich veggies that work include conventional spinach, Shanghai (baby) bok choy, or green cabbage. You could even toss in slivers of green or red bell pepper.
- Mix in other aromatics. Try adding onion wedges or sliced scallions/green onions.
- Drizzle with toasted sesame oil. It adds a wonderful aroma and nutty flavor to the dish.
